2019 RRCA National Half Marathon Championship
The Houston Striders are excited to announce that the Houston Half Marathon & 10K has been selected to host the 2019 Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) National Half Marathon Championship race! This will be the first RRCA National Half Marathon Championship and the third RRCA National Championship event hosted in the Bayou City.
Statement from Chadwick Holmes, President of Houston Striders:
“Throughout the years, the Houston Half Marathon & 10K has had the distinction of hosting RRCA Championships at the state or regional level. In fact, this year’s half marathon is the 2018 RRCA Texas Half Marathon Championship for the second year in a row! The Houston Striders, presenters of the Houston Half & 10K event, are thrilled to be selected as hosts for the RRCA National Half Marathon Championship in 2019. As long-term members of the Road Runners Club of America, we recognize the RRCA as an impactful advocate for running club excellence, athlete education, charitable outreach, and friendly competition for runners of all experience levels. The Houston Half & 10K has the honor of being the RRCA Texas State Championship this year and in several years past. With the 2019 National Championship, we look forward to sharing the amazing race experience that our growing list of past participants knows us for with an even larger audience. Keep an eye out for more announcements and excitement around the 2019 National Championship designation going forward. And join us on October 28th this year to experience the uniquely fast, friendly, and fun atmosphere we offer at both the half marathon and 10k distances. You’ll want to make our event an annual tradition! See you at the starting line.”
Statement from Lee Greb, RRCA South Texas State Representative:
“I am proud and gratified that the Houston Half Marathon, which is owned operated by my longtime running club, the Houston Striders, has been chosen as the 2019 RRCA National Championship in the Half Marathon distance. This is a large, well run and philanthropic race that is more than deserving to be our RRCA national spotlight event.”
